The Super Bowl is over and so is Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl IX. The Puppy Bowl aired on Animal Planet on Feb. 3 and the children in Oklahoma thoroughly enjoyed the puppies. Children interviewed after the Puppy Bowl explained why they preferred the Puppy Bowl to the Super Bowl.
“I don't understand why Daddy gets so excited about a football game when he could be watching the puppies,” Siobhann [last name withheld], age eight from Oklahoma City, said. “It was more fun to watch that then the football game. The puppies are much more fun.”
The “Most Valuable Puppy” award went to Marta this year. She was a Schnauzer/Beagle mix from the Aheinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport. She was considered to be the most courageous of all the puppies, even when facing puppies much larger than she was.
“I liked Sally the best,” Isaac [last name withheld], age five, from Oklahoma City, said. “She was really cute. I feel bad for the people who watched the football game. Football is always on, but you only see a lot of puppies playing together once in a while.”
“My son watches every year,” Kate, Isaac's mother, said. “He gets so excited watching them play. I enjoy watching him watch it. He claps his hands and jumps up and down. It is really fun.”
“I got to see puppies and not football,” Siobhann continued. “Football is silly. They run around and hit each other and that can't be too much fun. Puppies playing and falling into the water bowl is much better. And, there aren't any points. You don't have to have the most points to win. The ones who win are the ones who did their best.”
Although no official winner was declared for the Puppy Bowl, the children interviewed after the Puppy Bowl all felt they were winners for being able to see all the puppies play. Although the Baltimore Ravens won the Super Bowl, the children who watched the Puppy Bowls were the real winners.
