‘Puppy Bowl’ benefit for the Athens Area Humane Society

The Athens Area Humane Society (AAHS) will hold their 2nd Annual Puppy Bowl at Ten Pins Tavern (2451 Jefferson Road, Athens, GA 30607) on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 from 2 to 7 p.m. All proceeds from this event will benefit the animals at AAHS.

The following information on this event is from the AAHS blog on the website:

“In 2012, the Athens Area Humane Society partnered with Ten Pins Tavern to raise money for Izzy, a special adoptable dog who needed major surgery on both hips at the young age of one. Because her special surgery exceeded our medical care budget, The Puppy Bowl allowed us to raise money to help Izzy, who is now happy and healthy in her loving forever home! This year, we want to again focus on our special needs adoptable dogs and cats by raising money for our Healing Paws Medical Fund--after all, we want all of our adoptable animals to go to their new homes as healthy animals!

Puppy Bowl attendees can help raise money for the Healing Paws Medical Fund and AAHS in many ways: they can reserve a lane or walk-in to bowl, enter the Red Pin Bowling Challenge, purchase animal-themed cocktail drinks, enter a raffle and meet some of our adoptable dogs! The proceeds from lane rentals, Red Pin Bowling Challenge, and special cocktail drinks will benefit AAHS, as well as the raffle and tournament proceeds.

This year, we will have two lanes reserved for a bowling tournament! Each team can have up to four members who will bowl one game and record their scores to see who wins--the team with the highest overall scores will receive a special pet-friendly prize for everyone to enjoy. We'll also have a prize for the team with the lowest overall score, because getting all of those gutter balls takes skill too! The entry fee for the tournament is $50 per team, which includes the lane rental fee and the registration fee for the grand prize (that's only $12.50 per team member).”
