The sweet mixed breed pup rescued from the tragic fate of stray dogs in Egypt is due to be heading to South Florida on October 5. The puppy named Sokarah which means Sugar had been adopted, but a member of the woman's family died, and the adopter has backed out.
Little Sokarah needs either a foster home or a permanent home.
When first found roaming by the side of a lake as a stray, she was starving and had both a front and a broken back leg.
Sokarah gets along well with other dogs and children.
In March, the plight of stray dogs in Moqattam took a terrible turn when stray dogs were accused of attacking two children. Since then local veterinarians have been poisoning dogs with strychnine; an extremely inhumane and terribly painful way for any animal to die.
Although animal activists and humane supporters are frustrated and outraged by the heartless and cruel methods of controlling the canine population, the government claims it doesn't have enough money to spay and neuter the dogs - which of course would be much more humane and practical.
The puppy is scheduled to fly to Florida this weekend, and a safe home is needed. For contact information, please click here or email email@example.com.
