PUP announces North American tour

After being named one of the hottest new acts in music this year by Rolling Stone, Toronto punks PUP are ready to take their raw, harsh, energetic music across the country. The band has announced several dates for their tour which will take them both overseas and in North America. Their first stop in the states is Detroit, MI on September 12 at the Magic Stick. They'll be in Chicago 9/13-14 for this year's Riot Fest in Humboldt Park. Other acts included on the bill are The Cure, Andrew W.K., Cheap Trick, Gwar, and Mudhoney among other acts. This will be their first headlining tour with The Front Bottoms as their supporting act. Complete list of dates can be found below.

The Canadian band originally formed in 2011 under the name Topanga as a tribute to “Boy Meets World.” Though they released a seven inch entitled “Oceans,” they changed their name to PUP and signed with SideOneDummy Records late last year. In April of this year they released their self-titled album to rave reviews. Their breakthrough single “Reservoir” was recently nominated for a SOCAN Song-writing prize. Last month, the band was long-listed for the Polaris Music Prize. The group consists of vocalist Stefan Babcock, drummer Zack Mykula, bassist Nestor Chumak, and guitarist Steve Sladkowski.
