Punxsutawney, PA - Punxsutawney Phil in his 126 prediction, did not see his shadow this morning, after emerging from his den.
Ever since the tradition began in 1887, Phil (and his ancestors) saw their shadows 99 times, while predicting an early spring only 17 times. There are no record for nine of the years.
In what looked like a red carpet affair in Hollywood, thousands stood by in anticipation for Phil to emerge from his den this morning. With the help of Bill Deeley, president of the Groundhog Club's Inner Circle, Phil pointed his nose to the scroll that would predict the early spring.
Punxsutawney Phil's weather predictions have been correct 39% of the time.
