South Texas is turning orange for October. No, not those football jerseys.
Pumpkin season is here and there are many great places in the area to enjoy the orange gourds. It is more fun to get out to the country and select your pulp pumpkin.
- University United Methodist Church at 5084 De Zavala Road is the best place for already picked pumpkin selection plus there are some cute places to take photos. It is cash only and on Saturdays from 12pm to 3pm they have face painting for children. This annual fundraiser benefits the Uprising Student Ministry. The pumpkin patch is open from 9am to 8:30pm daily during the month of Octobe
2. St. Mark's United Methodist Church offers already picked pumpkins. The location is 1902 Vance Jackson and they are open Monday to Friday from 12 noon to 8pm and Saturdays from 10am to 8pm. Cash and checks are accepted. No charge for photo taking.
For a more of a fall festival try the following locations:
- The Pumpkin Patch San Antonio is located near Potranco Road with the address of 8756 Texas Hwy 151. This is a weekend family place with open hours on Friday from 3pm to 7pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 7pm. Admission is free for kids and $5.00 for adults. This is a full events that includes hayrides, concessions, pumpkin pies, bounce house, petting zoo, etc. Credit cards and cash are accepted. Look for more details on their Facebook page.
2. Fiesta Farm and Trail Rides has more than just pumpkins. There are train rides, goat walk, refreshments, tractor pulled hayrides and pony rides. The address is 8497 FM Road 1560N and for more details phone 210 316 3166. They are open through Thanksgiving and the hours are Monday through Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 12 noon to 5pm.
