However, Thanksgiving isn’t just about great food, it’s also about great cocktails.

Leading up to Thanksgiving, Examiner will feature cocktail selections from all across the country to turn your holiday festivities into a day to remember for years and years to come. And nothing is better than having the best Thanksgiving dinner at your house this year, especially if your family does the rotation thing.

Pumpkin Pie Cocktail

2oz - Old Forester 101
1oz - Brown Sugar Simple Syrup
2oz - Pumpkin Mash (50% pumpkin puree, 50% iced tea)
2 dashes - Pumpkin Bitters
Garnish with ground Nutmeg

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish.

Orris Root – 1/4 cup
Cassia Chips – 1 tablespoon
Nutmeg (crushed) – 2 tablespoons
Pumpkin Pieces – 1 cup
High proof spirits – 2 cups

Put all ingredients into a mason jar and wait two weeks. Strain through a cheese cloth and bottle.
