Pump It Up of Shawnee Mission hosts community blood drive Thanksgiving weekend

Donate blood this Sunday while your kids play for free!

This Sunday, November 28, 2010, from noon to 4 p.m., Kansas City families are invited to Pump It Up of Shawnee Mission to help replenish our community's blood supply and have fun, too. While adults donate much-needed blood, their children may play in Pump It Up's exciting inflatable playground for free. The Community Blood Center will also give free Kansas City Chiefs T-shirts to blood donors.

Stacy Wright, local owner of the Shawnee Mission Pump It Up, is making it easy for busy parents to give back to their community this holiday weekend. Register online at Click on “Blood Drive/Donating Blood” and enter the code “pumpitup” to view open slots and schedule a donation appointment at Pump It Up this Sunday. There are still many appointments available after 1:30 p.m.

The kids will have a blast climbing, sliding, bouncing and conquering the obstacle courses in Pump It Up's brightly-colored, enormous inflatable play areas. Check out Pump It Up's website to see pictures.

After scheduling your donation appointment, read this helpful information about how to enhance your donation experience. Remember, your blood might save a life! My 5-year-old daughter, currently in treatment for leukemia, has needed numerous red blood cell and platelets transfusions over the last year, and we are forever grateful to the generous blood donors in the Kansas City community.
