On January 8, 2011 a gunman opened fire in Tucson, Arizona at a public event titled, 'Congress on Your Corner.' Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and 18 others were shot in a matter of minutes. Tucson Places and Faces continues to report on how Tucsonans are coping with the brutal incident.
Pump It Up at 3248 N. Freeway Industrial Loop #108, is an indoor inflatable bounce house facility that is holding a fundraiser to benefit the victims and families of last week's tragedy in Tucson. Owners Tedd and Deb Tweedy encourage Tucson families to help raise funds on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at their northwest side facility.
For an entry fee of $7 per child this Wednesday, guests can enjoy Family Jump Time. Unlike a lot of events where children get reduced price tickets, parents get in for free this night. All proceeds go to the Tucson Tragedy Victim Fund at Pima Federal Credit Union.
According to spokeswoman Trisha Trinco, "Every week they host a family jump night."
However, this week the owners are hosting the fundraiser to benefit the victims and families of the recent ordeal. The charitable event starts at 5:30 p.m. and lasts for two hours.
As Tucsonans grapple with the reality of the violence that occurred, one of the most common reactions has been devastation at the loss of the 9-year old girl, Christina-Taylor Green. As the community comes together to heal, Pump It Up provides a safe atmosphere were families can engage in a fun activity and involve kids in the process.
Pump It Up has over 175 locations nationwide. Dubbed, "the inflatable party zone," it is filled with gigantic inflatable slides, private indoor arenas, bounce houses, obstacle courses and more. Pump It Up offers party packages, corporate team building, pumpstart structured play, jump-n-art and more.
