Puesto a new Mexican eatery focused on high-quality ingredients locally sourced

Puesto Mexican Street Food, located in downtown La Jolla, has announced they will be open for business starting tomorrow, Friday, February 10.

The new eatery serves authentic Mexican street food in an upscale, fast-casual environment, with high-quality ingredients like local and seasonally organic produce from Specialty Produce, all natural meats, grass fed beef, sustainable seafood and freshly made corn tortillas and salsas. Meals are made to order at a walk-up plancha (griddle) where diners make a series of choices to customize Tacos, Salad Bowls or Guisado Bowls. Guisado bowls are served with rice and beans.

Tacos, salads and bowls are served with a choice of guisdaos (grilled proteins and gourmet vegetarian items) including: carne asada; chicken, fish or shrimp al pastor; grilled salmon filet for salads and bowls; Huitlacochoe (corn truffle); zucchini flower; potatoes with chiles or soy chorizo; and mushrooms with Guajillo chile.

Try the tacos Puesto style: shredded mozarella cheese is crisped on the griddle and wrapped around the guisados.

Six homemade salsas are made from scratch daily: Asada (molcajete); Tomatillo (verde); Jamaica (hibiscus flowers, chipotle); Pistache (pistachio, jalapeno); Mango (habanero, tomato, cilantro) and Tomatillo (roja).

Toppings include: Flor De Jamaica Spices (a secret blend of hibiscus flowers with chipotle sauce), Grilled Pineapple, Nopales Asados (grilled cactus) and fresh vegetables.

Street Sides include: Guisado veggies, black beans, jasmine or brown rice, guacamole and sweet Mexican corn.

For a healthy dessert or refreshing side Puesto serves a Mexican street cup of sliced jicama, cucumber, carrots, mango and dried mango sticks with lime, chili and sea salt.

Puesto Mexican Street Food is located at 1026 Wall Street, La Jolla, California 92037 in downtown La Jolla.

Beginning Friday, February 10, Puesto will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
