Puerto Vallarta’s restaurant guide, Beck’s Best, now on Kindle

Puerto Vallarta’s definitive restaurant guide, "Beck’s Best Puerto Vallarta Restaurant Guide," is now available for download on Kindle, it was announced on Tuesday, February 15. The Kindle edition is a bargain $8.99. The hard copy is also still available through Cafe Press for $18.95.

The guide is authored by Gary Beck, a transplanted San Francisco resident who now lives full time in Puerto Vallarta.

His "Beck’s Best" guide groups restaurants by price range and by food specialties. It is a must for any visitor to Puerto Vallarta. Whatever kind of food you like and whatever the price range, you will find it in Beck’s Best.

The guide has updated info on 375 restaurants on 118 spiral bound pages, this guide has become a hit with visitors and local residents alike from taco stands/street food to family style spots on up to the upper crust dining adventures of this Mexican Paradise. The book covers street address, phone number, email and/or web addresses, hours, menu samples and discussions. The entire Bay of Banderas area is covered from San Pancho all through Nuevo Vallarta, the marina, hotel zone, downtown, southside, Conchas Chinas, on south to Mismaloya and Yelapa. The guide is updated and edited almost daily. Both the hard-copy and Kindle editions are constantly being updated.

San Francisco Bay Area residents influence

By the way, the definitive overall gay guide to Puerto Vallarta, Gay Guide Vallarta, is also authored by a former Bay Area resident. The excellent guide and map is the creation of former East Bay resident Mark Page.

Puerto Vallarta is the San Francisco Bay Area’s favorite gay getaway and Bay Area residents are big contributors to the community. Puerto Vallarta’s most upscale gay resort, Casa Cupula, is owned by San Franciscan Don Pickens. The centrally located San Franciscan Resort and Gym, which specializes in long term stays, is owned by David Rhodes, who also once lived in San Francisco.

I've been visiting Puerto Vallarta for over 30 years, and I'm glad you have mentioned Mr. Beck's book. His book is an excellent review of restaurants there, and well worth the cost (in time to peruse it as well as the purchase price) to optimize your dining. I've bought several editions, as P.V. and the book have evolved - unless you plan to cook yourself, it is as essential as a Spanish dictionary for a visit to P.V.

This is a great book! I'm currently trolling the web and guides to compile my web site on Puerto Vallarta ( *pimp*) and this book is one of the best sources I've seen! I kinda wish there was a ranking on the list but then again it's kinda refreshing in a way. At any rate, big ups on this book. -Dave

Dave, I do no wish to rank places since I know so many owners and this would only create ill feelngs. I am for a positive look at PV dining and feel my guide is a useful informational tool not a Fodor/Frommer/Zagat type guide.
Ed, check your links since when you click on cafepress to buy the hard copy, it does not work. Appears you have the http twice:
