May 30, 2011 – The last night of the 2011 Los Angeles Salsa Congress saw several tropical music artists on stage. Group Xtreme performed their bachata, a Dominican rhythm very much in demand these days within the Salsa dancing community. Venezuelan singer Yurelkis likewise performed a few songs. The evening, as well as this year’s 3-day event, culminated at 4 am with local Salsa band Johnny Polanco y su Conjunto Amistad and Puerto Rican singer Choco Orta as a guest artist.
The 13th annual Los Angeles Salsa Congress drew hundreds to our city for the event held for the first time at the Bonaventure Hotel, in downtown. The 2012 congress is already in the planning with Venezuelan Salsa superstar Oscar D’Leon signed to perform on Friday.
