It’s a big week ahead for Art Basel and possibly an even bigger week for the City of Miami Beach which is, once again, hosting the 2013 edition of this prestigious art show featuring modern and contemporary art from around the world.
This revisit to Miami Beach will mark Art Basel’s Twelfth Edition since the City began hosting this event back in 2002. Public days for this one-of-a-kind happening are from Thursday December 5 through Sunday December 8 from 12 noon to 8 pm.
Home of the largest collection of Art Deco Architecture in the world, Miami Beach is one of three locations worldwide where Art Basel now stages its premier modern and contemporary arts event. Now Art Basel will show annually in Hong Kong which had its first Art Basel Hong Kong Edition in May, and in its namesake city of Basel, one of the most important cultural centers in all of Switzerland.
According to Art Basel’s event planners:
“Last year 50,000 international visitors created the excitement that makes this singular even a remarkable way to encounter art.”

The locals on “the beach” don’t mind too much about the horde of folks this prestigious event brings to their suburban lifestyle which, according to some estimates, is now nearing almost 70,000 overseas visitors each year.
