Puccini's "La Fanciulla del West" opens tonight at San Francisco opera with self-proclaimed Wagnerian Deborah Voigt and Salvatore Licitra. Deborah has hosted the live broadcasts at the Met from time to time and mentions this proudly.
The opera began as a play by a San Franciscan, about of real life gold rush California. Slideshow of the new production below. The production runs Wednesday June 9 through July 2.
