Cumberland Gap is looking for a head football coach after Neal Pucciarellini decided to retire after six seasons at the helm of the Panther program.
Pucciarellini was the program's second coach and replaced current Cumberland Gap Athletic Director DeLynn Cline in 2007.
Since he has posted a 34-31 record and took the Panthers to four playoff appearances which includes Cumberland Gap's only playoff win which came over Happy Valley in 2007.
"I have enjoyed my years at Cumberland Gap High School for a variety of
reasons," Pucciarellini said. "I have had an opportunity to extend my teaching and coaching career for 10 years."
"The chance to compete against some legendary Tennessee coaches, and teams, but most of all I have been blessed with the privilege of getting to coach an exceptional bunch of kids at Cumberland Gap High School.
Pucciarellini came to Cumberland Gap in 2003 after retiring in Kentucky and was Cline's Offensive Coordinator for four years.
While in Kentucky which included stops at Middleboro, Pineville, and Scott County, he was the Offensive Coordinator on the the 1998 Middlesboro team that was the Class A state champions.
Cumberland Gap has named Defensive Coordinator Corey Russell as the interim coach while the school conducts a search to find a replacement for Pucciarellini.
Haney Steps Down At Houston
Tim Haney, the longest tenured high school football coach in Memphis has resigned at Houston High School.
Haney has been the head coach for the Mustangs the last 17 years compiling an overall record of 114-76.
He has coached at Houston for the last 21 years overall.
He took over the Mustang program in 1996 and led Houston to the playoffs 10 times including the Semifinal round in 1998 and 2001.
The Mustangs lost to Southwind in the 6A playoffs and are coming off a 7-4 record in 2012.
"I had a great run here at Houston with a lot of good players," Haney said.
Before coming to Houston, Haney also coached at First Assembly Christian School, Kirby and was a graduate assistant at the University of Memphis before coming to Houston in 1993 as the assistant football coach.
College Commitments
