Public Policy 101: Attention Veterans

Are you a veteran who would like to get together with other veterans in your community?  The Marine Corps League has detachments in your community looking for new members.  The League offers full membership to Marines and Navy Corpsmen assigned to the Fleet Marine Force, and associate membership to all veterans, honorably discharged as well as those still on active and reserve duty.  Please check out the Marine Corps League website at www.mcleague.org for a chapter in your area.

For those in Northwest Indiana, the Dunes Leathernecks in Valparaiso offers a variety of activities to help serve your community.  We offer a charity golf outing to help serve the Northwest Indiana Food Pantries.  The golf outing, which will take place at the end of August, is open to the general public to anybody who would like to help with a hole sponsorship or to participate in a foursome.  In addition, we offer services to help the local veteran community, but our pride is the annual Toys-for-Tots campaign which takes place between October and Christmas.

The Dunes Leathernecks meets at the American Legion Hall in Valparaiso, Indiana on Monroe Street on the First Monday of each month at 7 PM.  However, our meeting for August is on the second Monday due to the National Convention (details can be found on the national website), and the September meeting will be on the Second Monday as well due to the Labor Day holiday.

I look forward to meeting many more veterans at our monthly meetings.
