Nine elected Dearborn officials will be taking the oath for January 2014-December 2017 terms tomorrow night inside the Michael A. Guido Theater, at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, as well as the dessert reception hosted by the Dearborn Community Fund that will follow in the lobby. The colored lights adorning the city's Christmas tree and other surrounding decorations will still be up and aglow at the center's west entrance. There will be no admittance after the theater doors close at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Debbie Dingell, president of D2 Strategies and chair of the Wayne State University Board of Governors, will emcee the ceremony. Taking the oath will be Mayor John B. O'Reilly Jr., City Council President Susan A. Dabaja, Council Pro Tem Thomas P. Tafelski, Councilman Michael T. Sareini, Councilman Brian O'Donnell, Councilman David Bazzy, Councilman Robert A. Abraham, Councilman Mark Shooshanian and City Clerk Kathleen Buda.

Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian Zahra will swear in the city clerk first, and the mayor last. Zahra will administer the oath to the councilmen in reverse protocol order, with the council president being last. The ceremony will also honor retiring council members Nancy A. Hubbard and Suzanne Sareini, who are each ending today 24 years of tenure on the council.

As the Dearborn Police and Fire Honor Guard posts the colors; the crowd will be led in the Pledge of Allegiance by the Dearborn Allied War Veterans Council's 2013 Veteran of the Year, Ray Wantuck. Local clergy will provide the invocation for the Jan. 2 ceremony. The ceremony will be recorded for later broadcast, but Inauguration Media Coordinator Jessica Carreras said that the CDTV schedule for those broadcast times are not yet available at press time.

The reception in the lobby afterward, called a “Celebration of Community,” will feature music from the Henry Ford Community College Jazz Trio. The Dearborn Community Fund received contributions funding the reception from sponsors: Mayor O'Reilly's OneDearborn Fund, Michael T. Sareini, Farmers Insurance agent Mirvat Kadouh, Bandar Oil Inc. owner Mohamad Bandar, and Dabaja.

As of Thursday morning, in regard to winter weather advisory which had developed, Carreras said it is hoped that road crews will have roads cleared by evening, and the event is scheduled to go on as planned. For more information, call the Department of Public Information at (313) 943-2285.
