Public Enemy is here to help!

Adam Wallenta is a talented guy; he is not only a gifted writer and illustrator but he also is an exceptional hip-Hop singer/songwriter. While not mutually exclusive talents, Adam has found a unique and engaging way to combine his two loves into a series of interrelated projects that support, enhance, and complement each other. In 2006, Wallenta self-published a comic book staring his favorite band, Public Enemy as a pro-social strike team, which he later collected and re-sold as a about graphic novel in 2009. Wallenta not only self-promoted the comic and Graphic Novel, but supported sales of the novel with a self-produced CD (which he used as a value-added giveaway to folks who bought the graphic novel).

In Wallenta’s story (which was co-written by Chuck D of Public Enemy), the group isn’t just some world-renown, Hip-Hop band; they are actually members of a secret, global network of freedom fighters called the Underground Railroad, helping those in need of assistance, and fighting against injustice, corruption, and oppression wherever it surfaces. The story-arc the band faces off against an enemy unlike anything they have ever previously experienced. As it turns out, there is a group of evil executives who are attempting to build a New World Order, and in doing so is intent on unleashing its master plan for world domination.

However, in order to insure its success this group of Evil Executives must first eliminate the threat of a young lad named Vincent who apparently holds the key to the group’s secret weapon. Fortunately for the world at large, Vincent — it turns out — is a fan of Public Enemy and has come to them to seek out their help in order to expose the evil plans of the Executives. With the possibility of their plans for world domination in peril, The Executives make a desperate attempt to destroy their enemies. The Executives devise a plan that — in one clean swoop — will eliminate Vincent and Public Enemy as well as the Underground Railroad.

With everything on the line, an epic battle for peace and justice erupts with Public Enemy and the Underground Railroad on the side of the righteous as they fight for their lives and the freedom of the world. Needless to say, this is no easy road to walk as they are torn apart, imprisoned and hunted down by the government that wants to put them down and quash their bid for justice and equality. With their backs to the wall Public Enemy finds itself in a desperate fight for their lives.

When initially released as a comic, Public Enemy made Wizard magazine’s list of 42 Things You Need To Know About Indie Comics In 2006, taking the 38th slot. Moving forward, Wallenta’s new project is an album entitled For Adam. As can be expected, he is writing and illustrating a limited-edition comicbook that will accompany the album, and self-publishing both under his American Mule Entertainment imprint.
