Public Allies Miami is part of a national movement grounded in the conviction that everyone has the potential to be a leader. Allies receive intensive ongoing professional development training to prepare them for their roles and host organization representatives are invited and encouraged to participate in the training.
Anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 desiring to make a difference can qualify for this wonderful training. This is an amazing opportunity for recent high school graduates desiring to gain experience helping others and with the chance to build their resumes for future leadership opportunities. Allies serve four days a week for 10 months at local nonprofits, where they create, improve and expand services that address issues including youth development, education, public health, economic development, and the environment.
Allies are Americorps members, and are paid a stipend between $1,250 and $1,800 a month (depending on the community), and they receive health care, child care, interest-free student loan deferments, and a $4,725 education award to pay back student loans or pay for future education
