Blizzard Entertainment makes a point to keep actual patch dates for “World of Warcraft” a secret, but that doesn't keep players from speculating. That speculation has escalated thanks to Thursday's announcement of an unlock schedule for Isle of the Thunder King in the public test realm (PTR).
The Isle of the Thunder King is where players will join either Jaina Proudmoore's Kirin-Tor Offensive (Alliance) or Lor'themar Theron's Sunreaver Onslaught (Horde) to march across the island, unlocking new content over time on live servers. The PTR schedule is accelerated for testing purposes.
Community Manager Nethaera's announcement reminded players: “This is of course subject to change and does not reflect patch release dates.” However, with Blizzard currently planning to unlock the fifth and final stage for the PTR on Feb. 22, a release date as soon as Feb. 26 is possible. Of course, Blizzard might choose to release the patch before testing is complete, so players will continue to wait out each Tuesday's maintenance window with anticipation.
