Pt 2: Redefining the word slut: Is a slut a prostitute

I decided to research the definition for "Slut" in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary in order to see whether the story I had always told myself in my head was true. See Pt 1: Redefining Slut for the full story.

Next to the online definition I saw a little plus sign asking if I wanted “More”! I said Why Not? Go for it. Let’s go deeper into centuries of societal wounds for those of us with female genitalia!

There’s that word Prostitute again. Ok, enough of this, I wanted to know for sure, whether I was in fact, already a slut. So then I proceeded to click on the little blue link for “prostitute”.

1. To offer indiscriminately for sexual intercourse especially for money. I don’t know about you but I think a big mac and some fries going dutch is pretty indiscriminately. I can definitely say I’ve prostituted my time in exchange for a free meal.
2. To devote to corrupt or unworthy purposes. Yep some of those meals I mean Men.. have definitely been unworthy.
3. And then I looked at Examples for the word “Prostitute”. “A Writer prostituting himself by writing pulp for money” You mean a guy can be a Prostitute too? I thought all men were indiscriminate.
4. To prostitute one’s talents

So here I am, getting paid to “prostitute one’s talents” albeit non pulpilly, if that’s even a word. I’m a writer, I should know. Oops, that’s number 2 and 3 on the prostitute list.

But truly, what if your talent was sex? And you were getting paid to do it? And let’s be honest ladies, most of us are more gifted than our male counterparts in the bedroom. We’ve pulled the wool over their eyes for decades. God knows it doesn’t take much to please them in the sack. You could think about it as a service to the community we are doing.

And sometimes we get paid for our talents, through dinner, through jewelry, through affection, through attention, through nice things, maybe even a wedding ring?

I said: May God Save the Queen, which is another word for slut.

My Conclusion became: We are all Sluts and only God can save us now.

Until I scrolled down in my saving Grace, to see: Origin of Prostitute: Latin. Well I may be a slut but at least I know I’m not a hooker!
