Psychic Scams at Mardi Gras

See also

Psychics seem to be everywhere at Mardi Gras. You can spot them all dressed up with head scarves, beads and wild clothes. They line the streets doing readings telling you all about yourself and your future. However, most of them are scammers. Most of them come to Mardi Gras specifically to make money. Most of them are not psychics.

I understand that it is a festival and maybe if I were there I'd dress up too, but, not to take people's money. Real psychics rarely dress up. There is no standard look for a psychic because genuine professionals don't dress up. The wear ordinary clothes like the rest of us. They just happen to have talent. Just think about John Edwards or Sylvia Browne who appeared many times on TV and the media. They didn't dress up in rags and wild clothes to identify themselves as psychics.

I do know several real psychics who go to Mardi Gras every year because they have a following in New Orleans. If you are one of the unlucky people who impulsively spent money on the street to get a reading, you were probably scammed. If you'll do your research before you head for Mardi Gras, you'll find the advertisements for the genuine professionals posted around town and in the news papers everywhere. For those of you who spent your hard earned money on the street hoping for real readings, consider it part of your entertainment budget.
