To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their second album Talk Talk Talk, The Psychedelic Furs have announced a limited number of shows in Texas and California to begin in April. The Houston date of the tour is set for Saturday, April 23 at Warehouse Live. Tickets for the Houston show go on sale Friday at noon and can be purchased on the Warehouse Live website. All other shows are said to go on sale this Saturday according to the band’s website, but it is recommended you check with the individual venues as they may go on sale earlier.
The Psychedelic Furs will open each show by performing Talk Talk Talk in its entirety. It is expected that the band will follow the song order of the original UK release rather than the 1981 U.S. version familiar to older fans. A reissue of Talk Talk Talk in 2002 established the UK version as the definitive running order. The band will also perform a second set each night featuring songs from the remainder of their catalog.
Talk Talk Talk and their self-titled debut album established The Psychedelic Furs as a college radio favorite during an era when there were few avenues for punk and new wave bands to find an audience. Easily the strongest album of the band’s career, it includes ‘Into You Like a Train,’ ‘All of This and Nothing,’ ‘Dumb Waiters,’ and this writer’s personal favorite, ‘She Is Mine.’ It also includes the hit ‘Pretty in Pink’ in its original form. A more polished version was recorded for the John Hughes film of the same name.
