'Psych' lands original 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' for guest spot

It's been a while since we've had anything to report on in the "Psych" universe, but the hit USA show is about to dive into the well of popular pop-culture characters yet again.

According to TV Guide, the show has nabbed original "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Kristy Swanson for a guest spot next season as (you guessed it) someone who is under the suspicion of vampire-related activity. However, it's not as easy as this description makes it sound -- as Swanson's character Marlowe also starts to form a tight (and flirtatious) bond with John Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) along the way.

Lassiter's storylines are often some of the most interesting on the show, so we can hope that this is really going to delve into even more why the character struggles so much in the "personal connections" department. It may even become the best moment for the character since he and Gus went tap-dancing last season.

Do you approve of this casting? "Psych" will return this summer with all-new episodes for its sixth season.
