‘Psych’ 8x2 - Lassiter gets, loses, and then gets his mojo back

Last week in the Season 8 opener, Desperaux (played by Cary Ewles) returns and asks Shawn and Gus for their help to solve a crime while they are visiting the Harry Potter show in London. Desperaux explains that he was working under cover the whole time to take down national criminals, but as the show comes to an end, Shawn and Gus are not sure if they believe him. Safe to say, we should expect another visit from Desperaux.

In the 2nd episode of the season, titled “S.I.E.Z.E. the Day”, Lassiter learns that he only has weeks to live and he asks for the help of Shawn and Gus to help him find out why.

For the full recap, you can go here:

In the 2nd episode of the season, titled “S.I.E.Z.E. the Day”, Lassiter is still on the outs from being head detective but is trying to get his title back. Juliette has been elected as interim head detective. Trout (Anthony Michael Hall) is doing anything and everything he can to keep things the way they are and from Lassiter to getting his title back.

Shawn/Gus are struggling now to keep Psych afloat now that the SBPD isn’t hiring them for jobs.

Things get interesting as someone tries to kill Trout. Lassiter is given the chance to redeem himself but after learning some unsettling news, he reluctantly asks Shawn and Gus for help. They investigate all the death threats and they think that it’s Trout’s mom that shot at him. We get to see Trout have a very interesting conversation with her.

As the case progresses, Shawn starts seeing all these signs with Lassiter. Towards the middle of the show, he puts all the clues together, but he comes to the wrong conclusion.

Lassiter keeps trying to delay the case and try to keep out of harm’s way, but that proves more difficult then he thought and pushes him further and further away from being a detective. Of course it takes a snap moment to make the old Lassiter return and he gets his mojo back.

It’s nice to get a show that is centered around Lassiter. He is a fun character to watch, especially in a show like this where he gets what he’s always wanted. A child.

In next week’s episode, we get a remake of a show from the first season. Creator Steve Franks had stated that he was going to do it and we get to see the remake next week.

What do you think of the show?
