PSU offers class for diabetics

Cooking for new diabetics and those with pre-diabetes can often be a challenge. It more often than not requires a whole new mindset in nutrition and food preparation. The Lancaster County Extension of Penn State University (PSU) is offering a course “Dining with Diabetes” to assist in understanding some of what you need to know about how to make smart choices and manage your diabetes.

Each class offers food demonstrations and tastings, physical activity, ideas to take home, and discussions regarding important information to help you manage your diabetes. Participants will also receive a variety of resources, including a complete collection of Dining with Diabetes recipes.

The class will run from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Farm & Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster, on March 12, 19, 26 and April 2, and 9. There will be a follow up class on June 11.
