On Tuesday, Rockstar further dismissed claims that the company delayed “Grand Theft Auto 5” in order to produce additional SKUs.
As we reported late last week, some analysts believe that by delaying “Grand Theft Auto 5,” Rockstar would, in the future, release the title on Xbox 720 and PS4 – find the full story here.
Additionally, some speculation believes the delay could be tied to an eventual announcement for “Grand Theft Auto 5” for PC and Nintendo Wii U. Rockstar shared that they have “nothing new” to share regarding “GTA V” for either Wii U or PC.
Despite the company’s dismissal, a PC version of “GTA V” has appeared on an employee LinkedIn profile page and several online retailers have a PC product listing available.
Rockstar also took some time to comment on the speculation that the delay has been fueled by ulterior motives -- like a release on Xbox 720, PS4, PC, or Wii U. According to the company the delay happened because they “want the game to be as good as it needs to be.”
The full statement reads:
“To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they’re all nonsense – literally the only reason we’ve delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be.”
“Grand Theft Auto 5” will release on Xbox 360 and PS3 in September.
