Sony released a set of screenshots for the Playstation 4 user interface on Wednesday that highlights the social aspects of the next-gen console including what it may look like on smartphones and tablets.
The screenshots are the same as those shown during the Sony press event last week where the company officially announced the PS4. The images highlight the upgrade from the current XMB user interface for the PS3. You can spot trophies, video sharing and editing, game streaming, user profiles, friend feeds and live chat in the various shots.
Sony said that it wanted to make the Playstation brand a platform that can be accessed from various devices and not just the PS4 or PS Vita. This is highlighted with mockups of what the interface may look like on the smartphone and tablets. This includes the ability to stream video from PS4 gameplay to friends viewing through their smartphone and able to comment.
The PS4 is expected to launch this fall in time for the holidays.
