Sony had quite the Gamescom 2014 press briefing yesterday, and without question, one of the highlights of the show was the announcement of the upcoming PS4 exclusive, WiLD. Like a lot of games we've seen lately, developers of WiLD have some strong ambition for what they want it to be.
Part of why this game is going to be as large as Europe is the team wanted to make sure they don't get bored over the course of development. The same sentiment can be said for the game's playable creatures. Michel Ancel, who is a co-founder of the studio currently working on WiLD for PS4, talked about how they want players to be able to play as any animal or creature in the game.
"Every time you play you’ll discover new things, even in the same place as before. But the best feature came from our prototyping phase when we started playing as wolves, horses, sheep and even trout! So we decided that in WiLD every creature should be playable, even the giant and dangerous ones!" Ancel said.
We can safely say that we have never played a game that allows you to be able to play as every creature in a game. Talk about variety and depth, WiLD seems to be aiming for the definition of both.
This game is of course a PS4 exclusive and will be great to see when it finally gets to launch. While that might be a while before we see this game in retailers, Ancel did go on to talk about WiLD's ambition, mission types and the features they want to embellish upon.
"All these features combined, open so many new gameplay situations, especially when playing online. How you approach the game is up to you, what you do and even what you are – it’s all up to you. On the tech side, because WiLD is created exclusively for PlayStation 4, the game will use the full power of the console and all its crazy sharing capabilities," Ancel said.
