Sony Computer Entertainment will host a Gamescom media conference on Aug. 20 where the company will discuss and detail upcoming PS3, PS Vita, and PS4 releases. On Aug. 16, Sony released new information on the UK PlayStation Blog about their Gamescom media briefing and it seems that Sony will announce details regarding release plans for the PS4 during Gamescom.
Earlier this year we reported a rumor suggesting Sony would announce the PS4’s official release date at Gamescom – full story can be read here.
Today, in an official posting on the UK PlayStation Blog, Sony further detailed their Gamescom plans. Aside from providing updates on upcoming PS3 and PS Vita titles and announcing new software, Sony Computer Entertainment will discuss release plans for the PS4 – hopefully meaning an exact release date and complete launch lineup.
The blurb from the UK PS Blog reads:
We'll kick off the show at 18:00 BST on 20 August 2013 with a briefing to media on our release plans for PlayStation 4, as well as updates on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
A recent retail rumor has placed the PS4 release date as early as the week of Oct. 21 in North America. However, this claim remains to be confirmed.
With Sony confirming PS4 release plans set for Gamescom, we should know the PS4’s official release date early next week.
