Sony has officially announced that they will showcase a PS4 reveal at the next Playstation 2013 event in New York City. The Wall Street Journal reported on Feb. 1, 2013, that the event will most likely include details on the new PS4 console. The Playstation 2013 event will take place on Feb. 20, 2013.
The release date for the PS4 is rumored to occur in late 2013. U.S. consumers will be able to purchase the Playstation 4 console before Christmas of this year. Gamers can expect a new controller similar in design to the previous DualShock3, but features a new touchpad to replace the Start, Select and PS buttons. In addition, the controller will include some new social features via the Share button that allows gamers to share screenshots and video capture of gaming footage.
With the latest rumors suggesting a sneak peek, Sony is looking to submit details of its new system before Microsoft gets the chance to reveal its own next-gen console, XBOX 720. This can possibly conclude that Sony learned from the past with its sluggish release of the PS3 appearing almost a year later after Microsoft's 360. It can be certain that Microsoft has no intention to hold back news of their console as things begin to heat up between the two competitors. As more information unveils, Sony will announce details on the event website.
