The PS4 will be featuring many, many things when it is brought out to gamers within the next year, but it looks like one of those items will indeed be the PS4 Eye, which will look to rival the Xbox 720 Kinect.
According to a report from ExtremeTech on Monday, the PS4 will be bringing a new and improved Eye to the gaming industry.
Currently, the PlayStation 3 Eye is one camera that can display resolutions of up to 640x640 at 60 frames per second.
When looking at the Kinect, that system provides gamers with a regular camera that can display resolutions of up to 640x480 at 30 frames per second, in addition to a IR device that can show up to 640x480 at 30 frames per second.
The supposedly PS4 Eye will be featuring two cameras that can display resolutions of up to 1280x720. This could be the device to ultimately compete with the Xbox 720's Kinect.
In addition to the stunning resolution, the PS4 Eye will also contain microphones that can provide noise canceling and directional voice tracking features.
With rumors flying around that a new voice command system will be implemented, the Siri-like feature will also be bringing a new element to the device.
Overall, the PS4 and the Xbox 720 are definitely going to be very similar consoles, yet different in their own ways, so it'll be interesting to see how the competition ultimately shakes out.
