Tim Sweeney has provided some comments concerning the graphics of the early games that will be released for the PS4 and Xbox 720. According to a report by the NeoGAF forum on Feb. 11, the technical director and founder of Epic Games believed that the first batch of next-generation titles will either by cross-generation releases (with games appearing on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox 720) or use “heavily modified versions” of the Unreal Engine 3. You can check out some images of the Unreal Engine 4 in the slideshow at the top of this article.
Tim Sweeney has been working on the next-generation game engine since 2003. Unreal Engine 4 is designed for the PC and next-generation systems, which will presumably be the PS4 and Xbox 720.
Sony should be announcing their new console on Feb. 20 during their Playstation Meeting event in New York. Microsoft is also expected unveil their next-generation plans in the relatively near future. Both the PS4 and Xbox 720 are slated to launch in North America sometime in late 2013.
