According to a recent article by The Verge posted on Feb. 6, 2013, an approximate price for the PS4 has been revealed. Consumers can expect to see a price tag of around $400 or more in the US, as indicated by Japan's scheduled launch price for 40,000 yen. No mentions have been made for European costs and would suggest a later release in 2014.

The Verge goes into further detail about the 2006 price launch for the PS3 which originally released for $599, asking "Has Sony learned their lesson?" Noting the near $200 price cut for their hardware, Sony is confident in what they have in store as the upcoming New York event on Feb. 20, 2013, approaches.

Hardware details were officially confirmed about the shape of the new controller. As stated, the controller will be "roughly the same shape" as the previous "DualShock3" and presumably will be dubbed the "DualShock4". The button layout remains the same as the previous design but sports a new touchpad in place of the Start, Select, and PS buttons. Another noteworthy detail mentioned about the hardware is that the PS4 will support Cloud technology by the Cloud-based gaming service, Gaikai. This service allows users to play high-end console video games and renders them on remote servers via internet streaming allowing gamers to share their content.
