PS3s working, nightmare is over for PS3 owners

After a scary 24hrs, the massive PS3 crash is now over. Late last night, many PS3 owners found that their PS3s weren't playing many of their favorite games like the recently released PS3 exclusive, Heavy Rain. The cause of this was due to the internal clock of the machine. Earlier today, Sony made an official announcement informing everyone that the problem would be resolved in "24 hours", but it took around 8hrs from the announcement -- total downtime was 24hours.

Head to your PS3s and turn your system on. No ill side-effects should have occurred during this downtime, but check your trophy status and let us know if you are missing any saved game data or trophy data. It's time to make up from lost game time and delve deep back into Heavy Rain or any other game you have been itching to play.

Official Sony Statement:

We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.

If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect, users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the internet. If we have new information, we will update you through the PlayStation.Blog or PlayStation.com.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I'm writing to complain and explain the issues that I faced during this sony "crisis". First, my save game data was erased. I was able to install some save files back (since I backed most of them with my memory stick) however, some files were lost. For example, Dante's inferno, Bayonetta, AC2, Demon's Souls since their save files are locked from being backed up. Second, I own a psp go. I tried to install some games (which I downloaded from the psp store)and you cannot install them; plus ps1 games cannot be played. Since everytime I try, I get a message that reads "you must be logged into the account who owns these games". I am! I'm in my own personal account and I can't install any games into my psp or play ps1 games on the ps3. Then I tried to play dante's inferno and when I did, I had to start from the beginning since the data was lost. When I started to kill my first the first characters in the game, a trophy showed up. It seems by playing the game, I restarted the trophies campaign

PSN was never down. It was an internal problem on some specific models only. What crappy reporting here.

everything is 100% had to re load trophies though, because i was tryin to find games that i can play, and when the trophy based game didn;t load the trophies for that game disappeared temporarily that " don't turn on your ps3's" wasn't really a "scare" as it didn't affect settings permanently.... THANK GOD, how i don;t have to waste money on the "slim" LOL

You obviously do not pay attention to how PSN works. Your trophies are all safe, they are saved on a server somewhere just as long as you sync your trophies when you get them you will always be safe unless someone hacks in the the PSN sever and whips it all out. Which is very unlikely. Be smart backup your PS3 every month and sync your trophies often.
