Playstation and Wii U owners got a pair of deals to check out at Amazon starting Wednesday. Both “Mario Kart 8” and the 12-month PS Plus subscription for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita have been discounted at the retailer.

Those needing a year of PS Plus can pick up a digital code for the subscription for $39.99 from Amazon. The code will be delivered to your email address where it can be redeemed on the Playstation Store. This is actually a price match to Best Buy which has the physical card available for the same price with free shipping available.

Meanwhile, “Mario Kart 8” for the Wii U received a discount of just over $11 and can be purchased from Amazon for $48.80. This discount was also a price match response to another retailer. In this case, it was Walmart which has the game available at the same price point. Free shipping is available from both retailers.

Remember that purchasing “Mario Kart 8” also comes with a free digital game download when you register it at Club Nintendo. You’ll have the choice between “New Super Mario Bros. U,” “Pikmin 3,” “The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD” and “Wii Party U” as the free game.

As for Playstation Plus, it is required to play online multiplayer game on the PS4 with the exception of free-to-play titles and MMORPGs like “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.” That requirement does not exist on the PS3 or PS Vita. However, it does come with other benefits. The most notable of which is the Instant Game Collection which allows subscribers to download and play free games as long their subscription remains active.

The Instant Game Collection is being updated to a new schedule in July to make two free games available for each system at the beginning of every month. Currently, games are rotated in and out of the collection on a weekly basis.

The deals for both “Mario Kart 8” and the PS Plus subscription will likely last through Saturday, June 14. Sales tax may be applicable depending on the state and retailer purchased from.
