The Purple Rose Theatre has a well-earned reputation for championing American theatre, including Midwest playwrights, with the integrity of its productions. Area actors are invited to be part of this tradition through general auditions on February 10-11; appointments to audition can be scheduled beginning January 13.

On Monday, February 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday, February 11 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., auditions will be held at The Purple Rose Theatre Company, 137 Park Street, in Chelsea. Audition appointments are required and can be made by calling the PRTC Administration Office at 734.433.7782; office hours are Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Both Equity and non-Equity actors are encouraged to audition.

Actors will be asked to perform a one-minute contemporary comedic monologue and should bring a current headshot and resume to the audition. The Purple Rose Theatre Company is seeking male actors ages 21 and older, and female actors ages 15 and older for roles in the upcoming season. Callbacks for specific roles in specific productions will be held at a later date. Actors will be notified by phone if they are being invited to callbacks, which are not currently scheduled.

If an actor is unable to attend general auditions, he/she may submit a current headshot and resume to the attention of Guy Sanville, Artistic Director, at The Purple Rose Theatre Company, 137 Park Street, Chelsea, Michigan 48118.

The tentative 2014 / 2015 Season will include “Annapurna,” by Sharr White; “Out of the City,” a world premiere by Leslie Ayvazian; “Talley's Folly,” by Lanford Wilson; and “2 A.Z.,” a world premiere by Michael Brian Ogden. The Purple Rose Theatre Company operates under an SPT Tier 8 contract with Actors’ Equity Association and employs both Equity and non-Equity actors. The current Equity salary is $474.00 per week.
