Forecast discussion: Once again, high pressure ridging come down from Canada gave Rhode Island a gorgeous Thursday. We also received true spring temperatures, as we recorded a high of 61 degrees at T.F. Green Airport this afternoon. Unfortunately, we will return to some cooler weather on Friday, along with some showers.
The ridge will begin to break down during Friday morning. We will see increasing clouds through the morning as a warm front from the south moves northward. Along the front will be rain and showers. We should see showers develop during the start of the evening commute. There may be a few showers during the Pawtucket Red Sox game, but I do not think the game will be delayed or cancelled. Light rain will fall during early Saturday morning, and will end by the middle of the afternoon. Some sunshine is expected before sunset, and this may help temperatures climb into the upper 50’s to near 60 before sunset.
A high pressure system will build over Southern New England by Sunday, giving us gorgeous weather and slightly cooler temperatures. A strong low pressure system will bring another round of showers by Monday night, with moderate rain through the overnight hours. As the cold front moves offshore, the precipitation will taper to showers before ending by the middle of Tuesday afternoon. There is a slight chance of seeing an isolated shower early Wednesday morning, as a weak disturbance behind the main low passes through the region. Temperatures will remain seasonable into next week, and we will return to sunshine next Thursday.
