Forecast discussion: High pressure gave us bright sunshine in Providence to start Saturday morning. However, as we move through the afternoon, cumulus clouds began to increase in the skies. By the evening, we were mostly cloudy. The clouds are due to an approaching cold front coming into the Great Lakes. We will see some scattered showers ahead of the front by early Sunday morning. We will see scattered showers mostly in the late morning and early afternoon.
Showers will come to an end by the late evening. Skies will begin to clear into early Monday morning, as a high pressure system comes down from Canada. A low pressure system will form off the coast of North Carolina. As of right now, the American model believes the high will keep the low from moving northward. The European model also keeps the low to our south. So, I will keep the risk for an isolated shower for Tuesday afternoon, as the precipitation shield may pass into Rhode Island.
The low may also bring the risk of some showers by Wednesday evening. Any showers will end by early Thursday morning. From there, we will go into the following weekend with high pressure giving us dry and seasonable weather. Some cooler air will begin to filter into the area by Friday, with high temperatures only reaching the middle 70’s.
