Forecast discussion: We received mostly cloudy skies through the morning and early afternoon in Providence on Sunday, keeping our temperatures in the upper 50’s. However, a warm front is now passing through Southern New England. Temperatures are now increasing, despite being less than an hour from sunset. The high today was within the last hour, at 65 degrees at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick.

As we go into tonight, the warm front will keep temperatures mild, as well as keep our dewpoint temperature high. The extra moisture will create patchy fog and patchy drizzle tonight, especially along the south coast. Please be careful, as the visibility may go down to zero in dense fog.

We will see limited sunshine and breezy conditions on Monday, as a strong cold front inches closer to the east coast. We will see a high near 70 degrees, but then temperatures will fall about 20 degrees after the front passes. Along the front will be some very heavy rainfall. Due to the speed of the front, we could see up to an inch and a half of rainfall by early Wednesday morning. High pressure will build behind the front and give us mostly sunny skies into Friday. But, it will take a while for high temperatures to reach seasonable conditions.

As we look ahead to next weekend, a cold front in the Ohio River Valley Friday afternoon will bring showers ahead of it. We will see some showers by late Saturday morning. The shower activity will be steady through the middle of next Sunday morning. We may see some limited sunshine by the afternoon. High temperatures will reach the middle to upper 50’s.
