Providence weather: One more good day of weather

Forecast discussion: High pressure just passing Rhode Island brought a fourth day of beautiful weather to Providence. Temperatures reached the middle 70’s for high temperatures, although the sunshine made it feel warmer. The high will protect us for one more day, before some unsettled weather arrives by midweek.

As the high passes to our east, winds will change to the south-southwest. This will help bring in more moisture into the region, so it will begin to feel more humid as we move into Tuesday night. We will see increasing clouds as the high pressure ridge begins to break down. Increasing clouds is expected starting in the late afternoon, with overcast skies during the overnight. A cold front moving towards New England will create some scattered showers and thunderstorms for Wednesday afternoon. After looking over the computer models, I am beginning to see a general agreement. The cold front will stall over the area on Thursday, meaning another day of isolated showers and thunderstorms. The front will move offshore Thursday night.

Our humidity will begin to decrease as some drier air moves back over Southern New England on Friday. This means the pattern of having dry weekends will continue. At this time, the models keep the area with partly to mostly sunny skies, with temperatures slowly climbing back into the lower 80's inland. Temperatures will remain seasonable for the last few days of June.
