Forecast discussion: A ridge of high pressure helped bring bright sunshine back to Providence, after a rain soaked Wednesday. Also, the humidity was much lower, thanks in part to our winds, which came from the northwest. The northwest is a cooler, drier wind direction.
A weak cold front will be passing through this evening. There will not be a lot of precipitation with this front, but the coastline may see a stray shower this evening. Otherwise, expect clear skies and cool temperatures, which means the fans and air conditioners will not be needed tonight.
A stronger high behind the front will control our weather for Friday and part of Saturday. However, another frontal boundary will be moving towards Southern New England for Sunday. We will be seeing increasing clouds late Saturday afternoon, with cloudy skies by Saturday evening. We will be seeing some scattered showers off and on starting early Sunday morning. The front will move offshore by early Monday morning.
We will see good weather to start the work week, but the computer models are disagreeing on the next low pressure system. The American model feels the next chance for some significant rainfall by Tuesday night. But, the European model feels it may not be until late Wednesday afternoon. Right now, I feel the American model has been a little more consistent with its forecast, by my overall confidence remains low.
