Forecast discussion: After a few isolated showers early Saturday morning, high pressure offshore helped bring bright sunshine to Rhode Island. Temperatures reached 70 degrees at T.F. Green Airport by the late afternoon. We will see a few clouds during the overnight, so lows will slowly fall into the middle 40’s. A cold front over Northern New England at the moment will bring more clouds into the area on Sunday, giving us only partly sunny skies. But, thanks to a south-southwest wind, temperatures will increase slightly, reaching the upper 60’s right again. If you will be near the south coast, temperatures will be in the lower 60’s, as winds come off the colder ocean.
The cold front will pass through our area tomorrow night, bringing us mostly cloudy skies. It will remain breezy, and with the cloud cover, temperatures will actually be quite warm, as they only fall into the lower 50’s. We will once again see limited sunshine on Monday, with temperatures reaching 70 degrees in some areas.
The mild weather will come to an end by Monday night. A strong frontal boundary over the Central U.S. will slowly move east, and reach New England by Monday evening. We will see showers at first, but the slow moving front will eventually bring some heavier rainfall by the afternoon. At this time, an inch of rainfall is very possible. Also, behind the cold front will be some very cold air for the middle of April. So, after the front moves offshore, high pressure will bring sunny skies into the weekend. However, temperatures during the day will feel more like this weekend’s low temperatures. We will see a slight warming trend into next weekend, with the chance of some showers ahead of a cold front which would arrive by Saturday afternoon.
