Providence weather: Great start to sunny weekend

Forecast discussion: High pressure settled over the Northeast U.S. on Friday, giving Providence beautiful weather to start the weekend. The high helped to bring northeast winds, so temperatures were a little cooler. This was because of the easterly winds off the ocean. As we move into the weekend, the high will move our east, and winds will turn to the southwest. This will help bring some more moisture into our atmosphere during early next week.

So, the weekend will be quite comfortable, as we will have low humidity. However, as we move into the middle of the week, our dewpoint temperatures will make the air feel muggy and uncomfortable. A slow moving cold front coming down from Canada will bring the chance of isolated showers on Tuesday. As the front moves closer to the east coast, we will see scattered showers and thunderstorms for Wednesday. The front will become stalled over the region on Thursday, allowing for an increased risk at scattered showers and thunderstorms.

By Thursday evening, the blocking pattern to our east will end, and the front will begin to move offshore. There may be a few isolated showers next Friday morning, but it looks like the Fourth of July will see seasonable temperatures and dry weather.
