Providence weather: Good weather continues on Saturday

Forecast discussion: Once again, high pressure brought bright sunshine and low humidity to Providence on Friday. However, a weak cold front passed through the area this afternoon, creating heavy cloud cover. So, this helped temperatures cool throughout the afternoon. It felt more like a day in September than the middle of August.

As we head into Saturday, the high will give us bright sunshine once again, and the humidity will continue to remain low. But, winds will turn to the southwest, which will allow for some warmer temperatures inland. We will see highs reach around 80 degrees inland. Temperatures will be in the upper 70’s at the beaches and the south coast.

As we move into Saturday night, a weak disturbance will help create scattered showers by early Sunday morning. The best chance to see showers will be during the morning and the early afternoon. There is a very small chance for a thunderstorm. The disturbance will move out to sea by early Monday morning, as high pressure once again takes over.

Right now, the computer models are indicating that the high will keep a low pressure system forming off the Mid-Atlantic coastline south of us. With that in mind, I have taken showers out of the extended period, especially for Tuesday night into Wednesday. However, I will keep track of the models over the next few days, as the models could change its forecast. But, as of now, I will keep us dry going into the end of next week.
