Forecast discussion: Over several days of high pressure bringing dry weather, the center will continue to move into the Atlantic during the overnight. However, with some more moisture moving into the area, and temperatures falling due to clear skies, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect. It will be for southeastern Providence and Kent Counties from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Monday.
The high leaving will allow for a low pressure system in the western Atlantic to move north and west. However, this low will remain far enough away from New England to not greatly affect our weather. However, we will see mostly cloudy skies, and the south coast may see a passing shower.
The low will move towards the Canadian Maritimes early Tuesday morning, allowing a new high pressure system to our south to control our weather pattern. This high will also allow warmer air from the south to move into New England. We will see above normal temperatures for early October, starting on Tuesday. Highs into Saturday will be in the middle to upper 70’s. We may reach 80 degrees or more by Wednesday.
The next chance for any precipitation will be an approaching cold front over the Great Lakes by Saturday. The computer models all disagree on the actual timing of the cold front passing through the region. At this time, I believe we will see some showers starting in the mid-morning ahead of the front. It is possible we could see some heavier periods of rainfall when the front is overhead by the mid to late afternoon next Sunday.
