Forecast discussion: A cold front passed through earlier today, helping to create a stiff breeze during Monday afternoon. However, High pressure will be slowing building over the region on Tuesday, allowing winds to be lighter. The calm winds will help temperatures be quite cold for the next few evenings. In fact, a Frost Advisory is in effect for Bristol and Newport Counties for this evening.
The high will protect us into Wednesday, although we will be seeing some more moisture work its way into New England. In fact, there may be a widely isolated shower during the afternoon, but the odds are very slim. It should be dry weather in time for Game 6 of the World Series in Boston Wednesday night.
However, the weather looks to be changing as we head into Halloween. The trick-or-treaters may have to deal with some showers as they go from door to door looking for treats. However, they will not need the winter coats over their costumes, as temperatures will be quite mild, even going into the dark. I feel the computer models are beginning to agree that a cold front will come through after midnight, and provide us with some possible heavy rain going into Friday morning.
The rain may be heavy at times through the early afternoon, before the front moves offshore, and the precipitation weakens to showers by the mid-afternoon. All precipitation will end by sunset, although a passing shower is possible into Saturday morning. A new high pressure system will move over the area by Sunday, bringing back colder air from Canada. We will return to temperatures in the lower 50’s and lows in the 30’s during the evening.
