Forecast discussion: A low pressure system off the Long Island coastline is bringing some rain to eastern Massachusetts and Block Island at the moment. This low will slowly continue into the Atlantic, and all precipitation will end after midnight. Skies will slowly clear, as a strong high over the southern U.S. brings drier air over Providence.
Despite temperatures remaining over freezing, the National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory for northern and western Rhode Island from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Frost advisories may become frost warnings tomorrow night, as we will inch closer to freezing. Our temperatures overall will be below normal, thanks to an upper level trough remaining over the region.
As we move through the weekend, a low pressure system will move along the Canadian border, and be over the northern Great Lakes Saturday afternoon. The low will bring scattered showers early Sunday morning, and will persist right into Sunday afternoon. High pressure will return to influence our weather by Sunday afternoon, and continue through Monday. We will begin to see increasing clouds on Tuesday, as a slow moving cold front approaches the Northeast U.S. We will see showers arrive by early Wednesday morning, before leaving that evening. Temperatures will be in the middle to upper 50’s, with lows slowly rising into the lower 40’s by Tuesday.
