Forecast discussion: Providence has been seeing showers during the day, with periods of rain during the afternoon and evening commute. T.F. Green Airport has received a little over half an inch of rain as of 7 p.m. The low pressure system that has created this rain is now moving offshore and passing over Cape Cod. The rainfall will end around 10 p.m., with some partial clearing during the overnight.

By tomorrow, a weak high pressure ridge will bring sunshine and mild temperatures. However, the ridge will break down, allowing for some extra clouds to move in tomorrow night. At this time, the computer models disagree on how to handle a low developing offshore. The American model keeps it offshore just enough for us to see dry weather. There is the chance of seeing a passing snow shower, but not enough to even create a coating of snowfall.

The models come to an agreement on Thursday, with the offshore low passing off to the northeast and Nova Scotia. We will see more clouds than sun entering Friday, but a quick moving low may bring some scattered snow showers by Friday evening. The precipitation will eventually turn to rain showers on Saturday, before ending by the evening. As we go through the weekend, there is the chance of some snow showers by Sunday night, as a low pressure system develops over eastern Pennsylvania. However, the precipitation ends by early Monday morning. The holiday looks nice, with sunshine, but temperatures will be slightly below normal. There is the chance of more snow showers on Tuesday, as a low pressure system moves over New England.
