Forecast discussion: After seeing more clouds than sun on Friday, it will feel like déjà vu on Saturday. After having partly cloudy skies this evening, a weak area of low pressure will move south of New England Saturday night. Along the way, we will see increasing clouds throughout the afternoon, after seeing a sunny morning. As we end the weekend, we will be seeing some light snow.
The low will move offshore, and pick up some moisture from the Atlantic. However, the low will be far enough south that we will not see any heavy snowfall amounts. We will begin to see some snow showers during the overnight, and the snow showers will continue through the day. I think the south shore will see the most snowfall, and even now it looks like about 2 inches will be the maximum. However, I will update the forecast tomorrow night, and make any changes, if needed.
We will see some sunshine once again on Monday, as a high pressure ridge moves over New England. The ridge will protect us through Tuesday. As we move into late Tuesday night, a weak low pressure system forming in Alberta, Canada, and will move along the U.S.-Canadian border. This low, known as an Alberta Clipper, will provide us with some snow showers during Wednesday morning. However, the low will move offshore by the late afternoon. At this time, the computer models are only forecasting light accumulations.
We will have a dry day of weather on Thursday, before we see another weak low pressure system move south of Southern New England. However, some warmer air will slowly filter over Rhode Island next Friday. So, any snow showers are predicted to mix or change over to rain showers by the afternoon.
